Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess either of the following qualifications:
- Degree from a recognized University or equivalent with Psychology as a subject.
- OR Degree from a recognized University with Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Teaching or equivalent.
Age Limit
The age limit is 20 to 25 years.
The crucial date for determining the age limit is 27 October 2026, the closing date of receipt of online applications. Candidates should not have been born earlier than 28 October 2001 and later than 27 October 2006.

ITBP Head Constable Salary 2026
The Head Constable (Education & Stress Counsellor) post carries Level-4 pay in the Pay Matrix of ₹25,500 - ₹81,100 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission.
The post also carries admissible allowances including Dearness Allowance, Ration Money, Special Compensatory Allowance while posted in specified border areas, free accommodation or HRA, Transport Allowance, Leave Travel Concession and Free Medical Facilities.

The Physical Efficiency Test is qualifying in nature and no marks are awarded. Candidates must qualify in each event. PET will not be held for Ex-Servicemen, who are required to qualify the prescribed PST, Written Examination and Medical Examination.

The minimum qualifying marks in the written examination are 35% for UR, EWS and Ex-Servicemen candidates and 33% for SC, ST and OBC (NCL) candidates. There is no negative marking.
ITBP Head Constable Selection Process
The recruitment process includes the following stages:
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Physical Standard Test (PST)

- Review Medical Examination (RME), wherever applicable
Candidates qualifying in the written examination will be shortlisted category-wise for document verification and Detailed Medical Examination based on merit and the available vacancies.
ITBP Head Constable Medical Examination
Candidates who qualify the documentation stage will undergo Detailed Medical Examination (DME) to assess their fitness according to the applicable Government medical guidelines.
Candidates declared unfit during DME may undergo Review Medical Examination (RME), subject to the prescribed procedure and submission of written consent within the specified period.
ITBP Head Constable Application Fee 2026
Male candidates belonging to the UR, OBC and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹100/- through the online payment gateway.
Candidates belonging to SC, ST, Female and Ex-Servicemen categories are exempted from paying the application fee.
The fee once paid will not be refunded. Payment through modes other than the prescribed online mode will not be accepted.
