Who Can Apply for Assam Rifles Technical and Tradesman Recruitment?
The recruitment is open to male Indian citizens. Candidates must satisfy the educational qualification, age, physical standard and other requirements prescribed for the particular trade.
Only one application per candidate will be accepted. Candidates must select the appropriate trade carefully because a change of category or trade at any stage of the recruitment rally will not be entertained.
Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 Educational Qualification
The required qualification varies according to the trade. Candidates should carefully match their qualification with the specific post before submitting the application.
1. Warrant Officer (Cipher)
Candidates must be male and should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics and English and possess an NSQF Level 4 or higher course of at least two years in a relevant field such as Information and Communication Technology, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Instrument Technology from a recognised ITI.
Alternatively, candidates may possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics or Information and Communication Technology from a recognised university or institution.
The age limit for this trade is 18 to 25 years.
2. Rifleman (Electrical Fitter Signal)
Candidates should have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess at least two years of technical training from an Industrial Training Institute or a two/three-year Diploma in a relevant electrical or electronics discipline.
Relevant fields include Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Distribution, Electrician, Instrument Technology, Instrument Mechanic, Technician Power Electronic System and Technician Electronic System Design and Repair.
The age limit is 18 to 23 years.
3. Rifleman (Lineman Field)
Candidates should have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess at least two years of technical training from ITI or a two/three-year Diploma in relevant electronics or electrical disciplines.
The notification includes Electronics, Electronics Mechanic, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Distribution, Electrician, Instrumentation, Technical Power Electronic System, Electronic System Design and Repair, Fibre to Home Technology and OFC Technology among the relevant fields.

4. Rifleman (Armourer)
Candidates should have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess the prescribed technical training in the relevant trade from a recognised institution.

Candidates should have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess the prescribed two-year technical training from ITI or a two/three-year Diploma in the relevant engineering/mechanical trade.

Candidates should have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess the prescribed technical qualification in a relevant motor vehicle/mechanical trade.

12. Rifleman (Vehicle Mechanic)
Candidates should have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess at least two years of technical training from ITI or a two/three-year Diploma in relevant fields such as Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Mechanic Diesel, Fitter, Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering.

13. Rifleman (Welder)

14. Warrant Officer (Draughtsman)
Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent and possess a three-year Diploma in Architectural Assistantship from a recognised Polytechnic or institution.

15. Warrant Officer (Operation Theatre Technician)
Candidates should have passed 10+2 and possess a Diploma in Operation Theatre Technician of at least two years from a recognised institute or hospital.
Candidates must also have at least one year of work experience as an Operation Theatre Technician in a recognised hospital having a minimum of 50 beds.
The age limit is 18 to 25 years.
16. Warrant Officer (Physiotherapist)
Candidates should have passed 10+2 and possess a Diploma in Physiotherapy of at least two years from a recognised institute or government-recognised institution.
Candidates must also have at least one year of work experience as a Physiotherapist in a recognised hospital or physiotherapy centre having a minimum of 50 beds.
The age limit is 18 to 25 years.
17. Rifleman (Mason)
Candidates should have passed Class 10/Matriculation from a recognised Board and must qualify the prescribed trade test.

For Ex-Servicemen, the applicable age relaxation is calculated after deducting the period of military service from the actual age as on the prescribed cut-off date.
Only the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or equivalent certificate will be accepted for determining age.

The fee once paid will not be refunded or adjusted against any other recruitment expense.
Assam Rifles Technical and Tradesman Physical Standards
Candidates must qualify the prescribed Physical Standard Test (PST). The applicable standards depend on the candidate's category and region.

Assam Rifles Physical Efficiency Test 2026
The recruitment includes an RFID-based Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
- For candidates other than the specified Ladakh Region category: 5 km run within 24 minutes.
- For candidates from the Ladakh Region: 1.6 km run within 7 minutes.
The RFID-based PST/PET will be conducted at the designated recruitment centres. The reporting date and further details will be communicated through the official Assam Rifles recruitment website after successful submission of the online application.

Computer Based Test Pattern
The Computer Based Test carries 100 marks and consists of objective-type questions.

Candidates who qualify the RFID-based PET/PST, Documentation Verification and CBT will be considered for the Trade Skill Test.
Assam Rifles Trade Skill Test
Candidates shortlisted for technical and tradesman posts will have to qualify a Trade Skill Test.
The Trade Skill Test consists of a Computer Based Trade Test and a specific practical skill test. It is qualifying in nature and no marks are awarded for this test.
Candidates are shortlisted for the Trade Skill Test based on merit in the CBT. The notification specifies shortlisting at approximately a 1:4 ratio against the number of vacancies in the respective trade and category.
Medical Examination
Candidates who qualify the required recruitment stages will undergo Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and, where applicable, Review Medical Examination (RME).
The medical examination will be conducted according to the medical guidelines prescribed by the Ministry of Home Affairs for recruitment to the relevant forces.
Assam Rifles Merit List and Final Selection
Candidates who qualify all applicable stages, including PST, PET, CBT/Trade Skill Test and medical examination, will be placed in a trade-wise and category-wise merit list.
The final selection will depend on the candidate's position in the merit list against the available vacancies in the respective trade and category. Merely qualifying all stages does not guarantee final selection.
Ex-Servicemen Reservation
The notification provides that 10% of vacancies are earmarked for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) in the specified technical and tradesman posts.
If suitable Ex-Servicemen candidates are not available, the vacancies reserved for ESM will be filled by eligible non-ESM candidates belonging to the respective category.

Selected candidates will be placed on probation for a period of two years.
