1. Junior Technical Officer (Sugar Technology)

UPSC has notified 1 vacancy for the post of Junior Technical Officer (Sugar Technology) in the National Sugar Institute, Kanpur, under the Department of Food & Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.

  • Experience in drafting or editing scientific and technological reports and reviews.

Duties

  • Teaching, research and advisory work.
  • Any other work assigned by Senior Officers/Director.

The post is permanent, General Central Service Group-A Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The probation period is one year. The headquarters is Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, with liability for posting anywhere in India.

2. Assistant Legislative Counsel (Grade IV of Indian Legal Service)

There are 8 vacancies for Assistant Legislative Counsel (Grade IV of Indian Legal Service) in the Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice.

Educational Qualification and Experience

The candidate must hold a Degree in Law from a recognized University or equivalent and satisfy one of the experience conditions prescribed for Grade IV of the Indian Legal Service.

The candidate must have one of the following:

  • Membership of a State Judicial Service for at least seven years; or
  • Experience in a superior post in the legal department of a State for at least seven years; or
  • Experience of at least seven years in legal affairs as a Central Government servant; or
  • A Master's Degree in Law with at least five years of teaching or research experience in Law; or
  • Be a qualified legal practitioner of not less than 30 years of age.

Preference is given to candidates having experience in legislative drafting where the post is in the Legislative Department.

Additional Qualification Conditions

For the purpose of calculating qualifying experience, the notification contains specific provisions for counting periods spent in State Judicial Service, State Legal Departments, Central Government legal affairs and legal practice.

A qualified legal practitioner includes an advocate or pleader who has practised for at least seven years, or an attorney of the High Court of Bombay or Calcutta who has practised for at least five years, or has practised as such attorney and advocate for a total period of at least five years.

Duties

The duties include legislative drafting and scrutiny of statutory rules and orders.

The post is permanent, Group-A Gazetted and belongs to Grade IV of the Indian Legal Service. The probation period is two years and the headquarters is New Delhi.

The notification also states that the post is suitable for candidates belonging to the PwBD category of Autism Spectrum Disorder (Mild), ASD (M).

3. Law Officer

UPSC has notified 3 vacancies for the post of Law Officer in the Land and Building Department, Government of NCT of Delhi.

Duties of Law Officer

  • Assist the Government Advocate in writ petitions before the High Court and Supreme Court relating to land acquisition cases and allotment of alternative plots to persons whose land has been acquired.
  • Conduct land acquisition cases and civil suits before the Additional District Magistrate and subordinate courts of Delhi.
  • Handle other work connected with the Legal Branch of the department.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the competent authority.

The post is permanent and classified as General Central Service Group-B Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The probation period is two years. The headquarters is the Land & Building Department, Delhi.

Direct recruits are required to successfully complete mandatory induction training of at least two weeks, as prescribed by the competent authority, for completion of probation.

OBC Reservation Condition

For OBC reservation benefits in jobs under the Government of NCT of Delhi, the notification specifies conditions relating to the OBC certificate issued by GNCTD and the recognition of the caste in the applicable list. Experience

Three years of experience in the concerned speciality after obtaining the postgraduate degree is required.

Duties

  • Render patient care in the speciality.
  • Conduct and guide research work in the speciality.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the authorities from time to time.

The post is permanent and classified as Group-A Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The probation period is one year and the headquarters is New Delhi Municipal Council.

Private practice of any kind is prohibited for this post, for which non-practising allowance (NPA) is allowed.

UPSC Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

Candidates who are not exempted from payment of the fee are required to pay ₹25.

  • Payment can be made through Visa/Master/Rupay Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI or Internet Banking.
  • Female candidates of any community are exempted from payment of fee.
  • SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of fee.
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates are exempted from payment of fee.

Documents Required

Candidates must upload documents supporting the claims made in their applications. These may include:

Experience certificates should clearly mention the period of employment, pay details and the nature of duties performed. Experience obtained on a part-time basis, daily wages or as visiting/guest faculty will not be counted for shortlisting purposes.

Important UPSC Application Instructions

  • Candidates must ensure that they satisfy all essential eligibility conditions before applying.
  • Mere possession of the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call for interview.
  • If the number of applications is large, UPSC may adopt shortlisting criteria based on desirable qualifications, higher educational qualifications, higher relevant experience or a Recruitment Test.
  • Candidates should mention all relevant qualifications and experience above the minimum prescribed requirements.
  • Applications cannot be withdrawn after submission.
  • No correction, alteration or modification is allowed after submission of the application.

UPSC Selection Process 2026

The recruitment is being conducted by selection. UPSC may shortlist candidates when the number of applications is large. Depending on the post and recruitment requirements, shortlisting may be based on qualifications and experience or through a Recruitment Test followed by Interview.

The Commission has specified category-wise minimum suitability levels for interviews. Where a Recruitment Test is conducted, candidates must meet the required suitability level at both the Recruitment Test and Interview stages.
