Nationality
A candidate must be:
- A citizen of India.
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.

UPSC Engineering Services Educational Qualification 2027
Candidates must possess an engineering qualification from a recognised university or institution.
- Engineering degree from a recognised university established under Central/State Act or deemed university.
- Passed Sections A and B of Institution Examinations of Institution of Engineers (India).
- Engineering degree/diploma from recognised foreign university/institution.
- Graduate Membership Examination of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
- Other prescribed equivalent engineering qualifications.
