TNPSC Educational Qualification 2026

Educational qualification, technical qualification and experience differ according to the post. Candidates must possess the prescribed qualification and experience as on 31 August 2026, the date of notification.

Research Assistant Qualification

• M.V.Sc in Microbiology / Pathology / Parasitology / Dairy Microbiology / Animal Biotechnology;
• Must have passed SSLC or equivalent with Tamil as one of the languages; and
• Must be registered as a Veterinary Practitioner with the Tamil Nadu State Veterinary Council.

Assistant Director of Statistics Qualification

Candidates must possess either:

Candidates must have completed 21 years of age for all posts. Age will be calculated as on 01 July 2026.

The maximum age varies according to the selected post and category.

Reserved-category candidates receive the post-wise age concessions prescribed in the notification. For many posts, candidates belonging to SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC(OBCM) and BCM categories have No Maximum Age Limit, subject to the specific post conditions.

Where the notification states No Maximum Age Limit, the candidate should not have completed 60 years of age as on 01 July 2026 or at the time of selection / appointment.

Candidates should possess adequate knowledge of Tamil on the date of notification.

A candidate will generally be considered to possess adequate knowledge in Tamil if he or she has:

Part A - Tamil Eligibility Test is qualifying in nature. Paper II and Parts B and C of Paper I will be evaluated only if a candidate secures at least 40%, i.e. 60 marks, in Part A.

If two or more candidates obtain equal total marks:

1. The candidate senior in age will be placed higher.
2. If age is also equal, the candidate securing higher Written Examination marks will be placed higher.
3. If Written Examination marks are also equal, the candidate who submitted the online application earlier, based on Application Number, will be placed higher.

Is Interview Compulsory for TNPSC CTSE Interview Posts 2026?

Yes. Appearance in Paper I, Paper II and Interview is compulsory.

A candidate who fails to appear for Paper I, Paper II or Interview will not be considered for selection even if the candidate has otherwise secured the minimum qualifying marks.
