State Bank of India (SBI) has released Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/SPLDRIVE/2026-27/16 for the recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) in the Clerical Cadre under a Special Recruitment Drive for SC, ST and OBC backlog vacancies.

A total of 1,538 Junior Associate vacancies have been announced across different States and Union Territories. Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory under this recruitment project.

The online application process starts on 07 August 2026 and the last date for registration and payment of the application fee is 27 August 2026. The Preliminary Examination is tentatively scheduled for September 2026, while the Main Examination is expected to be conducted in October/November 2026.

Nationality

Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens for appointment as Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in State Bank of India.

• Candidates must possess Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university.
• An equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government is also acceptable.
• Candidates holding an Integrated Dual Degree must ensure that the date of passing the degree is on or before 31 December 2026.
• Final-year or final-semester Graduation candidates may apply provisionally.
• Provisionally selected final-year candidates must produce proof of passing Graduation on or before 31 December 2026.

Qualification for Ex-Servicemen

Matriculate Ex-Servicemen who have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or a corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force after completing at least 15 years of service in the Armed Forces are also eligible, subject to the certificate being dated on or before 31 December 2026.

Cumulative age relaxation is not permitted. SBI-trained apprentices must satisfy the specific apprenticeship completion conditions mentioned in the notification.

SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026 Local Language Requirement

• Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the selected local language of the State or UT applied for.
• Candidates must select one specified local language while submitting the application.
• Candidates who studied the selected local language in Class 10 or Class 12 and can produce the relevant certificate will not have to appear for the language test.
• Other provisionally selected candidates must qualify in the Local Language Proficiency Test before joining.
• Candidates who fail the language test will not be offered appointment.

The pay scale for Junior Associate is:

The starting Basic Pay for newly recruited graduate Junior Associates is Rs. 26,730, consisting of Rs. 24,050 basic pay plus two advance increments admissible to graduates.

Starting Emoluments

The total starting emoluments of a Clerical Cadre employee posted at a metro city such as Mumbai will be approximately Rs. 46,000 per month, including Dearness Allowance, other allowances and the two advance increments applicable to graduate recruits.

Allowances vary depending on the place of posting. Employees will also be eligible for applicable perquisites, Provident Fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme, medical benefits, Leave Fare and other facilities according to Bank rules.

SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026 Probation Period

Newly appointed Junior Associates will be on probation for a minimum period of 6 months.

• Candidates must complete the e-lessons prescribed by SBI during probation.
• Failure to complete the required e-lessons may result in extension of probation.
• Performance will be evaluated before completion of probation.
• The probation period may be extended if performance does not meet the Bank's expectations.

SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process consists of three main phases:

• Phase I – Online Preliminary Examination
• Phase II – Online Main Examination
• Phase III – Local Language Proficiency Test, where applicable

Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be counted for final selection. Final merit will be prepared State-wise and category-wise based on aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to qualifying the local-language requirement.

Preliminary Examination Important Points

• Each section has a separate time limit.
• There is no prescribed minimum qualifying mark for individual sections or aggregate score.
• Section-wise marks will not be maintained.

Main Examination Qualifying Criteria

• Candidates must obtain the minimum aggregate qualifying marks decided by SBI.
• No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed separately for individual subjects.
• Section-wise marks will not be maintained.
• Only Main Examination aggregate marks will be considered for the final merit list.

SBI Junior Associate Negative Marking 2026

There will be negative marking in both Preliminary and Main objective examinations.

• For every incorrect answer, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
• No penalty applies to unanswered questions.

Candidates must obtain the qualifying marks prescribed by SBI in the applicable language tests.

SBI Apprentice Bonus Marks 2026

Eligible SBI-trained apprentices will receive bonus marks in the Main Examination.

• Bonus Weightage: 2.5% of maximum Main Exam marks
• Bonus Marks: 5 marks out of 200
• The bonus will be added to the candidate's Main Examination aggregate score.

• Preliminary Examination marks will not be added to the final merit.
