RCF Kapurthala Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy the prescribed educational qualification, age limit, trade qualification, reservation conditions and medical-fitness standards before applying.
RCF Kapurthala Apprentice Educational Qualification 2026
- Candidates must have passed Class 10 or Matriculation examination or its equivalent under the 10+2 system.
- Candidates must have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in Class 10.
- Candidates must possess a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training.
Calculation of Class 10 Marks
For calculation of the Matriculation percentage, marks obtained in all subjects will be considered and not only marks obtained in a particular subject or group of subjects.
CGPA Conversion
Where the Class 10 result is given in CGPA, candidates should convert the CGPA into percentage. The notification provides an example where CGPA 7.4 multiplied by 9.5 results in 70.3%.
Calculation of ITI Marks
The percentage of ITI marks mentioned in the provisional or final ITI certificate will be considered for merit calculation.

Ex-Servicemen Conditions
- Ex-Servicemen should have completed at least six months of continuous Defence service.
- Eligible candidates must produce the prescribed discharge certificate.
- Children of Ex-Servicemen and Armed Forces personnel claiming applicable reservation must produce the required supporting certificate.
RCF Kapurthala Apprentice Reservation 2026
Reservation is provided for SC, ST, OBC, PwD and Ex-Servicemen candidates according to the distribution shown in the notification.
- SC and ST candidates must produce a valid caste certificate at Document Verification.
- OBC candidates must produce the prescribed caste certificate and Non-Creamy Layer certificate.
- Reserved vacancies may be interchanged or filled according to the conditions mentioned in the notification if sufficient eligible candidates are not available.

4% of the total apprentice seats are reserved for eligible Persons with Disability candidates.
- PwD candidates must possess at least 40% disability.

RCF Kapurthala Apprentice Merit List 2026
The merit list will be prepared for all candidates who apply against the notification.
The merit percentage will be calculated by taking the simple average of the percentage obtained in Matriculation and the percentage obtained in ITI.
Merit Percentage = (Class 10 Percentage + ITI Percentage) / 2
For example, if a candidate obtains 70% marks in Matriculation and 80% marks in ITI, the merit percentage will be:
(70 + 80) / 2 = 75%
Merit List Preparation
- Marks in all Class 10 subjects will be considered.
- ITI marks shown in the provisional or final certificate will be considered.
- A final merit list will be prepared trade-wise and community-wise.
- The number of candidates in the final merit list will correspond to the number of available slots, subject to eligibility.
RCF Kapurthala Apprentice Tie-Breaking Rule
If two candidates obtain equal merit marks:
- The candidate who is older in age will be given preference.
- If their dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the Matriculation examination earlier will be considered first.
RCF Kapurthala Apprentice Document Verification 2026
Candidates shortlisted according to merit will be called for verification of original certificates and supporting documents.
- Approximately 1.5 times the number of identified apprentice slots may be called for scrutiny or Document Verification.
- The merit result is expected to be declared within around 45 days after closure of applications, according to the notification.
- Document Verification is intended to be completed within one month after declaration of the result.

RCF Kapurthala Apprentice Medical Fitness 2026
Final engagement is subject to the candidate being found physically and medically fit according to the Apprentices Act, 1961 and applicable Apprenticeship Rules.
Candidates called for Document Verification must bring the prescribed Medical Fitness Certificate signed by a Government-authorised Gazetted Doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central or State Hospital.

General Medical Requirements
- Candidates should be free from contagious or infectious diseases.
- There should be no disease likely to be aggravated by apprenticeship training.
- Hearing should be good in both ears.
- No hearing aid is permitted under the prescribed standard.
- There should be no acute or chronic skin disease or chronic ulceration.
- Speech should preferably be without impediment.
- Functions of all limbs should be within normal limits.
- There should be no serious disease of the nervous or glandular systems.
RCF Kapurthala Apprentice Training Period and Stipend
The training period and stipend will be governed by the extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time.
The notification does not specify a fixed trade-wise monthly stipend amount.

The notification states that enrolment with an Employment Exchange is required, except for wards of employees of Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala.
