NFR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Designated Trades
Apprenticeship training is offered across multiple departments Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering, S&T, Personnel, Accounts, Medical, and Stores in trades including: Fitter, Electrician, Welder (Gas & Electric), Turner, Machinist, Carpenter, Plumber, Wireman, Mechanic Diesel, Mechanic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Painter (General), Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Draughtsman (Civil), Surveyor, Mason (Building Constructor), Structural Welder, TIG/MIG Welder, CNC Programmer cum Operator, Instrument Mechanic, Health Sanitary Inspector, Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology), Secretarial Assistant, Information & Communication Technology System Maintenance, and several others under the Centre of Excellence and Flexi MoU schemes. Training period is generally 1 year, except Mechanic Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance (Industrial Automation) at 6 months and Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology) at 1 year 3 months.
NFR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Post-wise Qualification
Qualification requirements vary by trade category:
- For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) & (Radiology): Passed 12th class under 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry & Biology, with minimum 50% aggregate marks in both Class 10 and Class 12.
- For all other trades: Passed Matriculation (Class 10) or equivalent with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board, AND possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the notified trade issued by NCVT, or a Provisional Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.
- The 50% minimum aggregate marks requirement in Matriculation is relaxed for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
- Candidates must have completed the prescribed course and hold their ITI pass certificate/NTC/STC as on the date of this notification mere course completion is not sufficient.
NFR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 15 Years
- Maximum Age: 24 Years (as on the closing date of application)
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years relaxation
- OBC candidates: 3 years relaxation
- PwBD candidates: 10 years relaxation
- Ex-Servicemen: 10 years additional relaxation plus service period rendered plus 3 years (applicable to the ex-serviceman applicant only, not their children)

Fee is non-refundable and must be paid online through the payment gateway link provided in the notification. EBC candidates seeking fee exemption must have family income below ₹50,000/- per annum and upload the requisite certificate. Application modification after submission is allowed on payment of ₹50/- per occasion, though registration details cannot be changed.
NFR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
- Merit-based selection no written examination is conducted
- Merit list prepared unit-wise, trade-wise, and community-wise based on percentage of marks in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) + ITI marks in the applied trade
- For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology): merit based on Matriculation + 12th Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) marks
- Final panel based on the average of Matriculation and ITI marks
- Shortlisted candidates (up to 1.5 times the notified vacancies) called for Document Verification
- Candidates must also submit a Medical Fitness Certificate at the time of Document Verification
- In case of tied marks, the older candidate is ranked higher; if date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed matriculation earlier is ranked higher
NFR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Stipend
Apprentices will be paid a monthly stipend as per prescribed rates. The current minimum stipend for NTC/STC holders is ₹9,600/- per month (effective 11.09.2025). Where one or two years' exemption is admissible under the apprenticeship curriculum, the stipend is ₹10,560/- (2nd year) and ₹11,040/- (3rd year). No hostel accommodation is provided; apprentices must make their own arrangements. Training under this scheme does not confer any right to appointment in Railway services, though 20% of erstwhile Gr.D (Level-1) vacancies are filled by giving preference to course-completed Act Apprentices, subject to eligibility and minimum qualifying marks.

Important Instructions
