Eligible Indian Nationals (Male/Female) who have passed ITI in relevant trades can apply online for one-year apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992. A total of 50 apprentice vacancies are available across 13 designated trades.
The online application process will be conducted through the Apprenticeship portal. Selected candidates will undergo one year of apprenticeship training at Naval Ship Repair Yard, Sri Vijaya Puram.

Naval Ship Repair Yard Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2026
Nationality
Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply for the Technician (Vocational) Apprentice Programme at Naval Ship Repair Yard, Sri Vijaya Puram.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed:
- Matriculation (Class 10).
- ITI qualification in the respective trade under NCVT or SCVT.
The eligible ITI trades for designated apprenticeship trades will be according to the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 as amended from time to time.
Naval Ship Repair Yard Apprentice Age Limit 2026
The minimum age required is 18 years as on one day before the commencement date of the Technician (Vocational) Apprentice Programme.
There is no upper age limit restriction for apprenticeship training as per Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship guidelines.
Naval Ship Repair Yard Apprentice Physical Standards 2026
The physical fitness standard will be according to Rule 4 and Schedule-II of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.
Candidates will be examined by the Yard Medical Officer of Naval Ship Repair Yard, Sri Vijaya Puram before enrolment.
Previous Apprenticeship Training Eligibility
Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training in the same trade under the Apprentices Act, 1961 in any Government, Public Sector or Private Industrial Organisation are not eligible to apply.
Naval Ship Repair Yard Apprentice Reservation 2026
Reservation of vacancies will be provided according to the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and applicable reservation rules in the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
- 3% vacancies are horizontally reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), subject to eligibility and fitness criteria.
- 3% vacancies are reserved for Armed Forces Personnel / Ex-Servicemen categories as per Apprenticeship Training Manual provisions.
Naval Ship Repair Yard Apprentice Stipend 2026
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend according to the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 or revised Government rules from time to time.
Payment of stipend is subject to registration on the online apprenticeship portal and execution of a valid apprenticeship contract.
Naval Ship Repair Yard Apprentice Selection Process 2026
The selection process consists of the following stages:
- Shortlisting based on Merit List
- Interview
- Document Verification
- Medical Examination
Shortlisting for Interview
Preliminary selection will be made through a merit list prepared trade-wise and category-wise based on the aggregate percentage of marks obtained in:
- ITI Trade
- Class 10 Examination
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at Apprentice Training School, Naval Ship Repair Yard, Sri Vijaya Puram. The interview carries 50 marks.
Final Merit List
The final merit list will be prepared considering interview marks. In case of a tie, the candidate's date of birth and alphabetical order will be considered for deciding merit.
