KEA has issued two separate notifications because the recruitment covers two distinct candidate pools: local candidates of the Kalyana-Karnataka region (recruited under the special Article 371(J) provision) and general district-wise candidates for the rest of Karnataka.

KEA has clarified in both notifications that the number of vacancies and category-wise/post-wise reservation is provisional and subject to change as per updated information received from the concerned Revenue Department/district authorities before the exam.
Educational Qualification for Village Accountant Post
Candidates must have passed PUC (Pre-University Course/2nd PUC) or an equivalent examination recognized by the Karnataka Pre-University Education Board. The following are accepted as equivalent to PUC:
- Class 12 examination conducted by CBSE or ICSE boards
- Class 12 examination conducted by Pre-University/School boards of other states
- Advanced-level vocational courses/HDC under the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
- A two-year ITI course combined with a bridge/vocational course from NIOS, where the candidate has passed one language subject and one other subject at PUC-equivalent level
Diploma holders (3-year diploma) are recognized as equivalent to PUC only under specific conditions direct/compassionate appointment cases, or where the diploma was completed before 2015 in a technical field and the candidate has cleared the required Kannada language paper along with the department exam. Candidates should carefully check the detailed qualification clauses in the official PDF before applying, since incomplete or wrongly claimed qualifications lead to outright rejection of candidature at any stage.
Age Limit for KEA Village Accountant Recruitment 2026
As per Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977, and Government Order dated 29.01.2026, a one-time additional 5-year age relaxation has been extended on top of the existing limits.

Exam Pattern for Village Accountant Recruitment
The competitive exam will be conducted offline in OMR format and consists of two papers of 100 marks each (total 200 marks), with negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

Candidates must secure a minimum of 35% marks in the competitive exam to be considered eligible for further selection.
Kannada Language Test Requirement
Candidates who have already passed Kannada as a subject in SSLC or an equivalent/higher-level examination, or who studied Kannada medium up to SSLC, are exempt from the separate Kannada language test. All other candidates must additionally clear a Kannada language paper carrying 150 marks, with a minimum qualifying score of 50 marks. Candidates who do not appear for this Kannada test, or who score less than 50 marks, will be treated as ineligible for appointment even if they clear the main competitive exam. Marks obtained in the Kannada language paper are not counted toward the final merit list it is a qualifying test only.
Selection Process and Probation
Selection is purely merit-based on marks scored in the written competitive exam, subject to meeting minimum qualifying marks and Kannada language requirements. District-wise merit lists/mark lists will be handed over to the respective Deputy Commissioners, who will conduct the final appointment process as per rules. Selected candidates will be on probation for two years from the date of appointment and will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 34,100 – 67,600 (as per the applicable Group-C pay band), with National Pension Scheme (NPS) benefits applicable.
