IOB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026 State Selection and Posting Conditions
- Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State.
- A candidate who applies for one State cannot apply for another State under the same recruitment.
- The merit list will be prepared State-wise and category-wise.
- Selected candidates will be posted within the State for which they applied.
- Selected officers will continue in the selected State for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV Grade, whichever is earlier.

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed nationality, educational qualification, age and local-language requirements as on the relevant cut-off date.
Nationality / Citizenship
A candidate must be one of the following:
- A citizen of India.
- A subject of Nepal.
- A subject of Bhutan.
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates must possess a Degree / Graduation in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

- Candidates who studied the prescribed local language in Class 10 or Class 12 are exempted from the Local Language Proficiency Test.

IOB Local Bank Officer Reservation 2026
Reservation is available for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities according to Government of India guidelines.
OBC Reservation
- Only OBC candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer and whose community appears in the Central List are eligible for reservation.
- OBC Creamy Layer candidates must apply under the General category.
- The OBC certificate containing the Non-Creamy Layer clause must be valid as on the date of the Personal Interview.
EWS Reservation
Candidates claiming EWS reservation must satisfy the Government of India income and asset conditions.
- Gross annual family income must be below Rs. 8 lakh.

- The examination will contain 140 objective-type questions.
- The maximum marks are 200.

For every incorrect answer, one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

- The LPT will test the candidate's ability to read, write and speak the prescribed local language.
