Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a Government of India undertaking, has released Advertisement No. HRDD/RECT/02/2026-27 for recruitment to the post of Local Bank Officer (LBO) in JMGS-I. A total of 250 vacancies have been announced for Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Selected candidates will be posted in the State for which they apply.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online from 08 August 2026 to 24 August 2026 through the official Indian Overseas Bank website. Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State. IOB Local Bank Officer PwBD Vacancy Details

PwBD reservation is horizontal. Selected PwBD candidates will be placed in the appropriate SC, ST, OBC, EWS or UR category to which they belong.

IOB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026 State Selection and Posting Conditions

• Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State.
• A candidate who applies for one State cannot apply for another State under the same recruitment.
• The merit list will be prepared State-wise and category-wise.
• Selected candidates will be posted within the State for which they applied.
• Selected officers will continue in the selected State for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV Grade, whichever is earlier.

IOB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed nationality, educational qualification, age and local-language requirements as on the relevant cut-off date.

Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be one of the following:

• A citizen of India.
• A subject of Nepal.
• A subject of Bhutan.
• A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
• A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates falling under the specified non-Indian citizen categories must possess a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India as prescribed in the notification.

IOB Local Bank Officer Educational Qualification 2026

Candidates must possess a Degree / Graduation in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

• The candidate must already possess a valid Graduation marksheet or Degree certificate on the date of online registration.
• The candidate must enter the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while filling the online application.
• The cut-off date for educational qualification is 01 August 2026.

IOB Local Bank Officer Age Limit 2026

Age will be calculated as on 01 August 2026.

Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02 August 1996 and not later than 01 August 2006, both dates inclusive.

IOB Local Bank Officer Age Relaxation 2026

• Cumulative relaxation is permitted in certain cases as specified in the notification.
• For eligible SC/ST/OBC candidates claiming cumulative relaxation, the upper-age limit is subject to a maximum of 50 years.
• OBC candidates belonging to the Creamy Layer are not eligible for OBC reservation or age relaxation.
• There is no reservation for Ex-Servicemen in Officers' Cadre, although eligible age relaxation is available.

IOB Local Bank Officer Local Language Requirement

Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking the local language prescribed for the State for which they apply.

• Candidates who studied the prescribed local language in Class 10 or Class 12 are exempted from the Local Language Proficiency Test.
• Such candidates must produce the relevant Class 10 or Class 12 marksheet/certificate.
• Other shortlisted candidates must qualify the Local Language Proficiency Test before appearing for the Personal Interview.
• Failure to qualify the LPT will result in the candidate not being considered for further selection.

IOB Local Bank Officer Reservation 2026

Reservation is available for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities according to Government of India guidelines.

OBC Reservation

• Only OBC candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer and whose community appears in the Central List are eligible for reservation.
• OBC Creamy Layer candidates must apply under the General category.
• The OBC certificate containing the Non-Creamy Layer clause must be valid as on the date of the Personal Interview.

EWS Reservation

Candidates claiming EWS reservation must satisfy the Government of India income and asset conditions.

• Gross annual family income must be below Rs. 8 lakh.
• Candidates must possess a valid Income and Asset Certificate issued by the competent authority.
• Persons owning assets above the limits prescribed in the notification are excluded from EWS reservation even if their annual family income is below Rs. 8 lakh.

Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities is governed by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

Eligible disability categories include:

• Orthopedically Challenged
• Visual Impairment
• Hearing Impairment
• Intellectual Disability
• Eligible Multiple Disabilities

Only candidates having at least 40% benchmark disability, subject to the prescribed conditions, are eligible for PwBD reservation.

Candidates must possess a valid Disability Certificate issued by a competent authority. The Bank may verify the disability certificate or UDID details and may require medical reassessment where necessary.

IOB Local Bank Officer Salary 2026

Local Bank Officers will be appointed in JMGS-I / Assistant Manager Scale-I.

IOB Local Bank Officer Advance Increment for Experienced Candidates

• One advance increment may be granted for each completed year of prior service as an Officer in Scheduled Commercial Banks.
• A maximum of 2 advance increments can be considered.
• The previous job profile must substantially match the job profile of a Scale-I Generalist Officer of Indian Overseas Bank.
• Candidates must submit a job-profile certificate from their current or previous employer.
• Candidates working with subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks will be eligible for only one increment.
• Previous experience will not be counted for service seniority.

Selected candidates will be on probation for a period of 2 years of active service from the date of joining the Bank.

Confirmation in the Bank's service will be governed by the applicable Officers' Service Regulations.

IOB LBO Online Exam Important Points

• The examination will contain 140 objective-type questions.
• The maximum marks are 200.
• Total examination duration is 3 hours.
• Each section has a separate time limit.
• There are no sectional qualifying marks.

IOB Local Bank Officer Negative Marking 2026

For every incorrect answer, one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

No penalty will be imposed for unanswered questions.

• The LPT will test the candidate's ability to read, write and speak the prescribed local language.

The examination centre list is tentative. Indian Overseas Bank may add, delete or modify examination centres depending on candidate response and administrative feasibility.

Pre-Examination Training may be arranged in online mode for a limited number of eligible candidates belonging to:

IOB Local Bank Officer Scribe and Compensatory Time
