The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the official CRP CSA-XVI Notification 2026 for recruitment of Customer Service Associates in participating public sector banks. The vacancies notified through this Common Recruitment Process relate to the financial year 2027–28.

A total of 11,403 indicative vacancies have been announced across different States and Union Territories. Eligible graduates aged between 20 and 28 years can apply online from 01 August 2026 to 21 August 2026 through the official IBPS website.

The selection process consists of an Online Preliminary Examination, Online Main Examination and Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable. Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory and must have proficiency in the specified local language of that State or Union Territory.

The vacancies are indicative and have been reported by the participating public sector banks. The final provisional allotment will be made according to the actual vacancies reported by the banks.

Vacancies are distributed State-wise, Union Territory-wise, bank-wise and category-wise among SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS and Unreserved candidates. Horizontal reservation is also available for eligible PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and Disabled Ex-Servicemen candidates as per applicable rules.

IBPS CSA Salary 2026

The basic pay scale for the Customer Service Associate post is:

Rs. 24,050-1,340/3-28,070-1,650/3-33,020-2,000/4-41,020-2,340/7-57,400-4,400/1-61,800-2,680/1-64,480

Selected candidates will also be eligible for allowances and perquisites according to the rules of the participating bank in force from time to time.

IBPS CSA Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

A candidate must be one of the following:

  • A citizen of India.
  • A subject of Nepal.
  • A subject of Bhutan.
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates other than Indian citizens must possess an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India.
  • An equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government is also acceptable.
  • The candidate must possess a valid marksheet or degree certificate confirming graduation on the date of online registration.
  • The final result of the qualifying examination must have been declared on or before 21 August 2026.
  • Candidates must enter the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while submitting the application.

Computer Literacy

Operating and working knowledge of computer systems is mandatory. Candidates should meet at least one of the following conditions:

  • Possess a certificate, diploma or degree in computer operations or computer language.
  • Have studied Computer or Information Technology as a subject in school, college or an institute.

Local Language Requirement

  • Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the specified local language of the State or Union Territory applied for.
  • Candidates must select the appropriate local language while filling the application form.
  • Candidates who do not satisfy the prescribed local-language exemption conditions may have to appear for a Local Language Proficiency Test.

IBPS CSA Age Limit

The age limit will be calculated as on 01 August 2026.

  • The candidate must have been born not earlier than 02 August 1998 and not later than 01 August 2006, both dates inclusive.

Bank transaction charges for online payment must be borne by the candidate. The application fee can be paid online from 01 August 2026 to 21 August 2026.

Candidates must qualify in each of the three tests by securing the cut-off marks decided by IBPS.

Negative Marking

There will be negative marking in both the Preliminary and Main examinations. For every incorrect answer, one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

No penalty will be imposed for a question left unanswered.

Cut-Off Marks

  • Candidates must secure the prescribed sectional cut-off in the Preliminary Examination.
  • In the Main Examination, candidates must obtain a minimum score in each test and a minimum total score.
  • State and Union Territory-wise cut-off marks will be decided according to the number of available vacancies.
  • The decision of IBPS regarding shortlisting and provisional allotment will be final.

Local Language Proficiency Test

Candidates must have proficiency in the local language selected for the State or Union Territory applied for. The proficiency requirement includes:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking
  • Understanding

The Local Language Proficiency Test will be conducted by the allotted bank before joining. Candidates who fail to qualify in the local-language test may not be offered appointment.

Candidates may receive exemption from the test if they produce valid Class 10 or Class 12 certificates showing that they studied the specified local language.

State and Union Territory Application Rule

  • Recruitment is conducted on a State or Union Territory-wise basis.
  • A candidate can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory.
  • The candidate will ordinarily have to appear for the examination in the State or Union Territory applied for.
  • IBPS may allot an examination centre outside the chosen State or Union Territory due to administrative requirements.
  • Such examination-centre reallocation will not change the State or Union Territory against which the candidate is considered.

Pre-Examination Training

Pre-Examination Training may be arranged for eligible candidates in September 2026. Details regarding the mode, centre and schedule will be published on the IBPS website.

Provisional Allotment

Candidates shortlisted after the Main Examination and other required processes will be provisionally allotted to one of the participating banks based on:

  • Main Examination merit
  • State or Union Territory-wise vacancies
  • Category
  • Candidate’s bank preferences
  • Government reservation guidelines
  • Administrative requirements

The provisional allotment is expected to be completed in March 2027. Final appointment will be subject to verification of eligibility and satisfaction of the participating bank’s requirements.
