CAPF Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 announced for 282 vacancies in BSF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP and Assam Rifles. Check eligibility, salary, age limit, fee, selection process and apply online by 08 September 2026.

The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles have invited online applications for recruitment to Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second-in-Command), Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant) and Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant) posts.

A total of 282 Medical Officer vacancies have been notified. The recruitment covers medical vacancies in BSF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP and Assam Rifles.

Eligible candidates must submit their applications through the ITBP recruitment portal. The online application window opens on 10 August 2026 at 00:01 AM and closes on 08 September 2026 at 11:59 PM.

The selection process includes scrutiny of online applications, Documentation and Interview, Physical Standard Test and Medical Examination. Selection will be made according to merit and the applicable eligibility and medical standards.

Ex-Servicemen Reservation: 10% of vacancies in the rank of Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant) are reserved for Ex-Servicemen. If Ex-Servicemen vacancies remain unfilled due to non-availability of eligible candidates, they may be filled by other eligible candidates.

CAPF Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed medical qualification, registration, internship, age, experience and post-specific specialization requirements before appointment.

CAPF Super Specialist Medical Officer Qualification 2026

  • Graduate Degree in Medicine (MBBS) or equivalent from a recognised University / Institution included in the First Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
  • Candidate should be enrolled in a State Medical Register.
  • Candidate should have completed compulsory rotating internship.
  • The applicant must possess permanent registration from MCI / NMC / State Medical Council before appointment.
  • Candidate must possess the prescribed postgraduate and super-speciality qualification in the concerned speciality as mentioned in the notification.
  • Required post-qualification experience in the concerned super-speciality must also be fulfilled.

CAPF Specialist Medical Officer Qualification 2026

  • Recognised medical qualification of the Allopathic system included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
  • Candidate must satisfy the conditions prescribed under the Indian Medical Council Act for qualifications listed in Part-II of the Third Schedule.
  • Permanent registration from MCI / NMC / State Medical Council is required before appointment.
  • Completion of compulsory rotating internship is mandatory.
  • Candidate must possess a Postgraduate Degree or Diploma in the concerned speciality.

Specialist Medical Officer Experience

  • One and a half years' experience in the concerned speciality after obtaining a postgraduate degree; or
  • Two and a half years' experience after obtaining a postgraduate diploma.

CAPF Medical Officer Qualification 2026

  • Recognised medical qualification of the Allopathic system included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
  • Candidate must have permanent registration from MCI / NMC / State Medical Council before appointment.

CAPF OBC Certificate Requirements 2026

  • OBC candidates must belong to the Non-Creamy Layer.
  • The OBC certificate must be produced in the prescribed format.
  • The candidate's community must be included in the Central List of OBCs.
  • The candidate must also submit the prescribed OBC Non-Creamy Layer declaration.
  • Candidates must ensure that they do not fall under the Creamy Layer on the crucial date.

CAPF EWS Certificate Requirement 2026

EWS candidates must possess an Income and Asset Certificate valid for the relevant period and issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.

Candidates who qualify the Interview will undergo Physical Standard Test by the designated Board of Officers.

CAPF Medical Officer Medical Examination 2026

Candidates qualifying the Physical Standard Test will undergo Medical Examination Test by a duly constituted Board of Medical Officers of CAPFs and Assam Rifles.

CAPF Medical Officer LASIK Surgery Conditions

LASIK surgery correction may be permitted subject to the prescribed medical criteria, including requirements relating to:

  • Interval after surgery
  • Age at the time of surgery
  • Axial length
  • Corneal thickness
  • Pre-LASIK refractive power
  • Visual acuity
  • Retinal condition

CAPF Medical Officer Tattoo Policy

The notification permits tattoos only subject to the prescribed CAPF medical guidelines.

  • Tattoos depicting religious symbols or figures and names may be permitted according to customary religious practice.
  • Tattoos should generally be located on permitted traditional sites such as the inner aspect of the forearm or dorsum of the hands.
  • The tattoo size should generally be less than one-fourth of the particular body part.
  • Medical Boards will take the final decision regarding acceptability.

CAPF Medical Officer Review Medical Examination

A candidate declared medically unfit may apply for a Review Medical Examination according to the procedure and time limit mentioned in the notification.

The Review Medical Examination will normally be conducted after the Detailed Medical Examination at the designated centre.

CAPF Medical Officer Merit List 2026

The Medical Officers Selection Board will prepare the merit list based on the aggregate marks awarded to candidates during the Interview.

CAPF Medical Officer Posting 2026

Appointment will be made in BSF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP or Assam Rifles depending on merit, vacancy availability and the preferences exercised by the candidate.

The notification states that the candidate's preference of CAPFs and Assam Rifles will be treated as final once submitted.

CAPF Medical Officer Service Liability

  • Selected Medical Officers are combatant officers in CAPFs and Assam Rifles.
  • They are liable to serve anywhere in India or abroad as per service requirements.
  • They may be posted independently in various units.
  • Candidates are required to serve for a minimum period of 10 years.
  • An officer seeking resignation before completion of the prescribed minimum period may be required to refund pay and allowances according to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

CAPF Medical Officer Probation Period 2026

Every candidate appointed as Super Specialist Medical Officer, Specialist Medical Officer or Medical Officer will normally be on probation for a period of 2 years.

The Central Government may extend the probation period by one year where considered necessary.

CAPF Medical Officer Pension

Newly appointed candidates will be governed by the applicable pension scheme for new entrants to Central Government service, in accordance with Government rules mentioned in the notification.

CAPF Medical Officer Government Employee Instructions

Candidates serving in Central Government departments must produce the prescribed No Objection Certificate from their employer at the relevant stage of recruitment.

The certificate should confirm that:

  • The candidate is serving in a permanent or eligible capacity.
  • The employer has no objection to the candidate appearing for recruitment.
  • The candidate will be released if selected.
  • No Departmental Enquiry or Vigilance case is pending or contemplated, as applicable.

CAPF Medical Officer TA / Travel Allowance for Interview

The notification provides limited travelling allowance to eligible outstation candidates appearing for Interview subject to the conditions prescribed in the recruitment notice.

The concession is not available to candidates already employed in Central or State Government, Public Undertakings, Local Bodies or similar organisations where the applicable conditions exclude reimbursement.
