The Directorate of Tourism, Government of Kerala has released the official Green Marshal Recruitment Notification 2026 under Notification No. CMD/DoT/01/2026 dated 05 September 2026. The district-wise vacancy figures are fixed as notified, but destination-wise deployment numbers have not been separately fixed. More than one Green Marshal may be deployed at a particular tourism destination depending on operational requirements.

Candidates applying for the Green Marshal position must have passed SSLC.

Kerala Green Marshal Engagement Period 2026
The Green Marshal engagement is purely temporary and on a daily wage basis for one year.
The engagement does not provide any right or claim for regular appointment, permanent employment, continuation, renewal or absorption in the Directorate of Tourism, CMD or Government service.
Kerala Green Marshal Selection Process 2026
The selection process consists of district-wise shortlisting followed by an interview/proficiency assessment.

District-wise Shortlisting
Shortlisting will be carried out district-wise based on the percentage of marks obtained in the SSLC or equivalent qualifying examination, subject to fulfilment of eligibility conditions and document verification.
The percentage used for preparing merit will be system-calculated using the following formula:
Percentage = Marks Obtained ÷ Maximum Marks × 100
The percentage will be calculated from the marks entered by the candidate and will be verified against the original documents.
Interview / Proficiency Assessment
Final selection will be based on the candidate's performance in the Interview / Proficiency Assessment conducted by the Directorate of Tourism.
Kerala Green Marshal Tie-Breaking Rules 2026
Where two or more candidates obtain the same SSLC percentage, the following tie-breaking rules will be applied:
- Preference will first be given to a local resident, subject to production and verification of valid residence proof.
- If the tie still remains, the older candidate based on Date of Birth will be ranked higher.
Kerala Green Marshal District Preference 2026
Candidates must indicate only one district of preference in the online application. A candidate will initially be considered against vacancies in the district selected.
The selected candidate may be deployed at any proposed tourism destination within the chosen district depending on operational requirements.
However, based on tourist importance, visitor demand and operational requirements, the Directorate of Tourism/CMD reserves the right to deploy or re-deploy selected candidates to any tourism destination in any district of Kerala. Candidates must therefore be willing to serve anywhere in Kerala as directed.
Kerala Green Marshal Physical Fitness Requirement 2026
Applicants must be physically fit to perform the duties associated with the Green Marshal position. The competent authority may require a medical fitness certificate or medical examination before engagement wherever necessary.
