BARC Eligibility & Vacancy 2026 Details

Junior Research Fellowship (Physics)	105	M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc./B.S-M.S. (Dual degree)/B.S. (with fourth year Research) in Physics. And Mathematics must be one of the subjects at B.Sc. level. (Specializations in Electronics/Instrumentation not eligible).
Junior Research Fellowship (Chemistry)		M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc./B.S-M.S. (Dual degree)/B.S. (with fourth year Research) in Chemistry (General/Applied/Organic/Inorganic/Physical/Analytical). And Physics as ancillary subject at B.Sc. level; Mathematics at H.Sc. level (Passing marks required in both).
Junior Research Fellowship (Life Sciences)		M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc./B.S-M.S. (Dual degree)/B.S. (with fourth year Research) in Life Sciences related subjects. And Physics/Chemistry/Biochemistry/Agriculture Chemistry or allied must be one of the subjects at B.Sc./integrated level. (Certain specializations like Fisheries, M.Tech Life Sciences etc. not eligible).

Note: Valid national level exam (UGC-CSIR-NET Fellowship, JEST, ICMR-JRF, ICAR-JRF, DBT-JRF, GATE in relevant subjects, JGEEBILS) required. Minimum marks: 60% in B.Sc., 55% in M.Sc. (relaxed for integrated/4-year BS). Awaiting result candidates can apply with conditions.

BARC Stipend 2026

Allowance	Amount (₹)
BARC JRF Stipend 2026	₹37,000/- per month (First 2 years as JRF), ₹42,000/- per month (From 3rd year as SRF).
Allowances	Contingency grant including book allowance ₹60,000/- per year. Possible financial assistance for one international conference abroad (as per HBNI norms).

BARC Selection Process 2026

Screening based on valid national level exam score and academic performance.
Shortlisting for interview at BARC, Mumbai.
Final selection purely based on performance in selection interview.
Allotment of research project based on interview performance (tie resolved by M.Sc./B.Sc. marks).
