The High Court of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati has released Notification No. 11/2026-RC dated 25 September 2026 for recruitment to the post of Civil Judge (Junior Division) in the Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Service.

A total of 119 Civil Judge (Junior Division) posts are available, including 96 posts through Direct Recruitment and 23 posts through Recruitment by Transfer. The online application process will be conducted through the High Court of Andhra Pradesh website.

AP High Court Civil Judge Recruitment 2026 - Educational Qualification

Direct Recruitment

Candidates applying through Direct Recruitment must be Law Graduates who obtained their Law Degree before the date of notification.

The candidate must also satisfy the other eligibility requirements prescribed under the Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Service (Service and Cadre) Rules, 2026.

The notification also prescribes requirements relating to character, citizenship and other service conditions. Candidates must not fall under any of the disqualifications specified in the notification.

Recruitment by Transfer

Candidates applying under Recruitment by Transfer must possess a Degree in Law awarded by a University established by law in India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the authority.

The notification specifies eligible categories of employees who can apply through Recruitment by Transfer, subject to the prescribed service and qualification conditions. These include certain ministerial and judicial service categories working in the High Court and subordinate judiciary.

AP High Court Civil Judge Recruitment 2026 - Age Limit

Direct Recruitment

The candidate applying through Direct Recruitment should not have completed 35 years of age as on 01 September 2026.

The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Economically Weaker Section categories, as prescribed in the notification.

For persons who have served in the Defence Services and are otherwise eligible, the prescribed age relaxation provisions are applicable.

Recruitment by Transfer

Candidates applying through Recruitment by Transfer should not have completed 48 years of age as on 01 September 2026, subject to the conditions prescribed in the notification.

AP High Court Civil Judge Recruitment 2026 - Reservation

Reservation is applicable to SC, ST, Backward Classes, EWS, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and other eligible categories in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Service rules and applicable Government provisions.

The notification provides category-wise reservations for Direct Recruitment and Recruitment by Transfer. Candidates claiming reservation benefits must upload the prescribed certificates along with their applications.

AP High Court Civil Judge Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of the following stages:

  1. Screening Test / Computer Based Test
  2. Written Examination
  3. Viva Voce
  4. Final Selection

AP High Court Civil Judge Screening Test 2026

The Screening Test will be conducted through Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for a maximum of 100 marks.

The duration of the Screening Test is 2 hours.

The Screening Test is used only for shortlisting candidates. Marks secured in the Screening Test will not be added to the marks obtained in the Written Examination for final selection.

The Written Examination consists of three papers, with each paper carrying 100 marks and having a duration of 3 hours.

AP High Court Civil Judge Minimum Qualifying Marks

Direct Recruitment

For the Written Examination, candidates under Open Competition and EWS categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate and not less than 50% marks in each paper.

Backward Class candidates must secure at least 50% marks in aggregate and not less than 45% marks in each paper.

SC and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities candidates must secure at least 45% marks in aggregate and not less than 40% marks in each paper.

Recruitment by Transfer

Candidates applying through Recruitment by Transfer must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate and not less than 50% marks in each paper.

AP High Court Civil Judge Viva Voce

The Viva Voce carries 50 marks.

Candidates who remain absent for the Viva Voce will be disqualified from the selection process.

AP High Court Civil Judge Merit List

After the Written Examination, candidates will be called for Viva Voce in the ratio of 1:3 of the available vacancies in the respective categories, subject to the conditions prescribed in the notification.

Where candidates secure identical marks, the notification provides for tie-breaking based on the prescribed educational qualification and marks obtained in the relevant qualification.

AP High Court Civil Judge Training

Selected and appointed candidates will be designated as Trainee Judicial Officers and will undergo a period of one year of intensive training at the Judicial Academy.
