The Society for Centralized Recruitment of Staff in Subordinate Courts (S.S.S.C.) under the High Court of Punjab and Haryana has released Detailed Employment Notice No. 37C/SSSC/PB/2026 dated 03 October 2026 for direct recruitment to the post of Clerk in the District Courts of Punjab.

A total of 1270 Clerk posts are to be filled through online applications from eligible candidates. The online application process will start on 07 October 2026 at 04:00 PM and the closing date is 04 November 2026 at 04:00 PM.

Punjab High Court Clerk Vacancy 2026

The recruitment notice provides category-wise vacancy details for the Clerk posts. The vacancy position includes Unreserved/General, EWS of Punjab, SC of Punjab, BC/OBC of Punjab, Freedom Fighter, Sportsman, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen categories. The notice states that the number of vacancies may be increased or decreased depending upon the vacancies available at the relevant stage.

Punjab High Court Clerk Eligibility 2026

The applicant should possess a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.

The pay scale for fresh recruitment/appointment to the post of Clerk in the District Courts of Punjab on or after 17 July 2020 is Rs. 29,200/- at Level-5 for Graduates. The pay scale has been adopted in accordance with the applicable Punjab Government pay instructions.

Punjab High Court Clerk Selection Process 2026

The selection process includes an Online Written Examination (Computer Based Test), followed by a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for candidates who qualify the written examination, and thereafter checking of original testimonials/interaction as applicable.

Written Examination

English Composition

• Essay - 150 words: 10 Marks
• Letter: 5 Marks
• Precis: 5 Marks
• Translation from Punjabi to English: 10 Marks

Negative Marking

There is negative marking in the objective portion. For every wrong answer, 1/4 mark will be deducted. Unattempted questions will receive no credit or discredit

Computer Proficiency Test

The Computer Proficiency Test is mandatory for candidates called for it and is qualifying in nature. Its marks will not be counted for final merit.

• Spreadsheet Test: 10 marks, 10 minutes; minimum 40% marks required.
• Computer Typing Test in English: 30 words per minute.

The final Select List will be prepared strictly on the basis of merit in the online written examination, subject to the number of vacancies to be filled.

Punjab High Court Clerk Exam Date 2026

The examination date has not been specified in the employment notice. The examination may be conducted anywhere in Northern India on a suitable date, and the examination date, test centre and shift will be notified on the official S.S.S.C. website.
