Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has released Advertisement No. 09 of 2026 for the recruitment of 170 Assistant District Attorney posts. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website from 30-04-2026 to 20-05-2026. The recruitment is for Group-B posts as per the requisition received from the Department of Justice, Government of Punjab.

Candidates applying for the Assistant District Attorney post must possess a professional degree in Law and should have two years of practice experience at the Bar. Applicants must also have passed Punjabi at matriculation level or an equivalent Punjabi language examination. The selection will be based on an objective type written examination.

Category Wise Vacancy Details

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Law (Professional Degree) from a recognized university or institution.
• Barristers of England or Ireland or members of Faculty of Advocates of Scotland who are eligible for enrollment as an Advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961 are also eligible.
• Candidates must have two years of practice experience at the Bar.
• Candidates must have passed Punjabi at matriculation level or an equivalent examination in Punjabi language.
• The required qualification must be completed before the last date of submission of application forms.

Age Limit

The age limit will be calculated as on 01-01-2026.

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age for General Category: 37 years
• Maximum Age for SC and BC candidates of Punjab: 42 years
• Maximum Age for State and Central Government employees: 45 years
• Maximum Age for PwD candidates of Punjab: 47 years
• Widows, divorcees and certain other categories of married women may get relaxation up to 40 years as per Punjab Government instructions.

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the written examination. The exam will contain objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each question will carry 1 mark and there will be negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer. :

Tie-Breaking Rule

• If candidates obtain equal marks, the older candidate will be placed higher in merit.
• If age is also the same, the candidate with higher marks in the required educational qualification will be placed higher.
• If the tie still remains, matriculation marks will be considered.
